Well, as I suspected, there isn't anything else to report for my third day of use with this product. Worked out exactly like the two other days. If you haven't read those, read the first day here and read my second day escapades right here. With that said, as I promised, here is my review on the ELF Volumizing Mascara:
Let me start by saying, this product was $2. So what can you really expect? In truth, this product really isn't that bad. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for, but in this case, you get more. I give this product 3 out of 5 stars.
The upside to the ELF Volumizing Mascara is that it really does define lashes and give them a little "oomph". It's easy to remove (not water proof, so if that's what you need, try their Studio water-proof lengthening and volumizing mascara), so I feel like it's a little gentler on my eyes and lashes. It stays on for the long haul, with next to no flaking, though I did get a very small amount of smudging beneath the lashes (you know, that area that seems to collect any bits of eye makeup that may move through out the day, and it makes you look like you have bad wrinkles beneath the eye... fortunately, the small amount of ELF Volumizing Mascara that smudged didn't look that bad, it wasn't super noticeable, but I wanted to make sure you know what I'm talking about).
The cons? Well, I think the formula is a bit too wet. I prefer drier mascara formulas, because I feel like they're less messy and easier to apply. Because the formula was a bit wet and the brush was a typical, generic-looking brush, the application got a tiny bit messy. I felt like there was just too much product on the brush, so when you first applied the product, if you weren't very careful, you'd get a clump here or there. After scraping off some more of the product in the bottle and going over it, I pretty much evened it out. And as I mentioned before, there was a bit of smudging beneath the eye. It wasn't horrible, but I could do without it.
Bottom line on this product... For two bucks, it's not bad. I will use it again, especially if it's a short-wear-time kind of day. I definitely prefer my Badgal Lash Mascara (see my review on it here), but this one isn't bad in a pinch.
ELF also has a mascara primer that I would like to give a trial run, but I don't think I need to do a follow-me segment on it. I think I'll try it with the ELF Volumizing Mascara and see if it helps with the application and staying power/smudging, then follow up with a review, of course.
