A new feature I'll be doing is a lip product of the month. I have an obsession with lip products, and I'm super picky about them, so expect only top notch LPotM aka Lip Product(s) of the month.
This month, the LPotM is Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains.
Five out of five stars!
These balm stains are incredible, guys. I love lipstick, but if I'm just running errands or going to campus, I shy away from wearing them because most of them require a lot of touch-ups. And that sucks, because I would love to have that extra pop of color, even when I'm just at the library or grocery store, but I don't want to have to touch up my make-up constantly. I spend a good amount of time on my full morning routine, and once the make-up is on, and I'm out the door, that's that. I carry powder, blotting sheets, and a few lip products (gloss, a couple different balms, and whatever lip product I chose to wear that day), but that's it in the way of make-up. I don't wanna take time out of my day when I'm super busy, so I have to be able to walk or drive while doing any touch-ups. As you can imagine, with lip stick, it presents a problem or several. Is it on straight? Even? Is it on my teeth? Etc. And don't even get me started on those magic-marker-esque stains. Some are good, but still don't pack the punch that Revlon's Balm Stains do.
First of all, they go on smooth and feel moisturizing. They aren't sticky, even after being topped with a gloss. Plus, the gloss doesn't dull the color. And here's the awesome sauce: they are so, so pigmented! I layered the balm stain like so:
1.) EOS balm in Mint
2.) Revlon Balm Stain in Smitten
3.) ELF Minty Lipgloss in Miami
I had this on for a couple hours before I left the house, and then I applied another coat just before leaving, since I wasn't too sure about the staying power. And how about I ran errands for 3 hours all while sipping on a bottle of water, came home and chatted with people for a while, had something else to drink, chatted some more, had something else to drink, and then had dinner. And I had color the whole time, no touch-ups, except for one touch-up on gloss, which was for a specific reason.
When you first apply this product, it feels moisturizing. After a while, that feeling goes away, but the color does not! It really does stain your lips! I did want some shine, though, which is why I touched up my gloss one time while I was out. I wore this lip product for 11 hours, and I still had decent color at the end of the day! It had faded a bit around the outer edges, but I had been eating and drinking.
Removal? Easy! This stain came completely off with an ELF make-up removing towelette. :-)
Two thumps up from me! Definitely my new go-to for lip color. I only wish they had more colors!
Did you know that lip colors with a blue base/undertone help make teeth look whiter? Orange tones do the opposite. Interested in teeth whitening products? Look for my upcoming review on Rembrandt's Two Hour Whitening Kit. :-)
