Review: Revlon Photo Ready Liquid Foundation
Whew! Finals are over! School was eating up most of my free time for the last month, but Winter vacay is here! Plus I'm taking Spring semester off to focus on my career, and since it revolves around writing, you can expect the content to start piling up. Now, on to more important stuff...
To date, my favorite foundation is Revlon Photo Ready. I wear #001. I have a very fair complexion with a yellow undertone, which I don't see on people very frequently. This foundation is the only one thus far that actually matches my natural tone. My star rating for this is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Product claim: ... For poreless, air-brushed skin in any light. Photocromatic pigments bend and reflect light to erase every flaw. Complete, yet undetectable coverage. Soft, luminous finish.
Ok, so... is there truth to this claim? Some. I don't think it's possible for a product to achieve a completely poreless appearance. This foundation does a decent job minimizing pores, though, and when applied correctly (stippling with a good brush or other tool), it does offer an air-brushed effect. This, however, is not a heavy coverage product. It's best for light to medium coverage. It doesn't erase every flaw, which, again, is pretty impossible.
The photocromatic pigments are shimmering particles in the product. Some people really hate it, others love it. I think this is because the shimmer is more noticeable on certain people, and they feel like it's too much for them. This isn't the case for me, of course. I don't think it's too much and I love the brightening effect.
And lastly, there is a reason it's called photo-ready: I do notice that my complexion looks better and brighter in pictures when I'm wearing this foundation. This foundation is also oil free, fragrance free, and contains SPF 20, which is awesome.
So, to sum things up:
Pros: Air-brushed effect, light weight, brightening, oil free, fragrance free, contains SPF, reflects light for better skin photo ops.
Cons: Light to medium coverage only (so if you really need coverage, you may want to opt for a different product or combine this with another product, like a good concealer), some may find it to be too shimmery.
When I apply this product, I use a Beauty Blender sponge. If I need extra coverage, I combine it with a concealer. First, I apply the foundation and blend, then I apply a concealer where I need it, and blend again. Top with a mattifying powder.
Interested in the Beauty Blender sponge tool? Watch for my upcoming review!
